Our speed of communication has improved dramatically and I can ensure important messages are displayed across both buildings on the site almost instantaneously. It means that we can have our briefings by data conferencing, which adds to the flow of inteligence.

Options for multi site video conferencing

If your business is spread across many sites or you work regularly with partners in other locations you may find multi site videoconferencing a useful communication tool. There are many benefits to using multi site video conferencing – for example, you don’t need to visit each location so often, you can hold meetings immediately without requiring people to travel and you can collaborate on projects much more easily. Many businesses are confused about how they can set up multi site video conferencing though, so here are three options worth considering.

If you use video conferencing regularly and need to connect to a large number of sites then a LifeSize Bridge might be the best option for you. It’s a big investment but gives you the ability to hold up to 16 conferences simultaneously in full 1080p30 HD video. It has unrivalled bandwidth performance, with each port given up to 4Mbps and expands to allow 48 users at once. There are options to install a Lifesize Bridge into a VM Ware environment now although the quality will not be quite as high as a dedicated solution. Please contact us to discuss options for hosting a bridge within your own infrastructure.

If that’s outside your budget or you don’t need video conferencing on as many sites another option would be to purchase a video conferencing codec that has built in multi point calling. Our recommendation would be either LifeSize Room 220, which can manage 8 sites, or LifeSize Team 220 which can connect to 4 sites at the same time. As with the Bridge, both Room and Team have full 1080p30 HD quality video and audio, meaning your calls are crystal clear, and unprecedented bandwidth performance.

The third option would be to buy a lower cost codec such as LifeSize Express 220 and use our Managed Service, which lets you rent ports on our bridge on a monthly basis. Each port costs just £79 + VAT  per month and you can add more ports as and when you need them, so it’s a flexible and cost-effective way of managing your multi site video conferencing requirements without compromising on quality – for the Express 220 system also delivers HD quality images and audio. Using the Managed Service is also ideal if your network connection is slow or unstable, as you use our fast bandwidth instead.
