Digital Light Processing (DLP)

DLP is projector technology that utilizes digital micro-mirror devices to project images on to a screen. Originally developed in 1987 by Texas instruments DLP is used in traditional and interactive displays. Non-traditional applications for medical and security industries can include embedded applications.

The technology is used in front projectors or standalone projection units, DLP rear projections televisions and digital signs as well as digital cinema projections. It is also found in mobile devices or cell phone accessories and projection display functions embedded into phones.

Laser Video Projectors

LVP systems work by scanning the complete image one dot by one dot and moderating the laser at high frequencies. This is similar to electron rays in cathode ray tubes. Laser Video Projectors work in a similar fashion as DLP technology, but when well implemented, laser technology provides a broad color scheme. The sharpness in a laser video project is due to monochromatic primaries that are produced by high quality lasers.

To explain laser video projectors in technical terms, the video signal is implemented into the laser beam by acousto-optic modulators that that utilize photorefractive crystals to separate the beam into different diffraction angles. Creating an image requires a piezoelectric element transformation into vibration in the crystal. The results are instantaneous.

LCD Projectors

This brand of video projector is used to display images, videos or computer information on a screen or flat surface. It is the contemporary equal of the overhead or slide projector and can be used in numerous environments. LCD or liquid crystal display projectors filter light that emits through a metal halide light source across a prism or dichroic filter that separate light into polysilicon panels. In other words, polarized light passes through panels that open up to allow light to pass through. You now have a projected image on a surface.

To sum up, DLP projector are the simplest type of projector to operate and ideal for large audiences, LVP gives you the highest resolution possible and makes images sharp and readable and are effective business seminar tools and LCD projectors have high color saturation and the audience appear to view the images through a window, so is best used in schools to help the pupils focus.
