Businesses in the UK are turning to the cloud for more cost-effective software packages. According to a survey by Damovo UK & Ireland, 62% of IT directors in the UK are choosing cloud based solutions to reduce software expenses.
A major concern for IT directors is “bloated” applications that come with features they never use or need. The problem is you have to pay for these features, whether you use them or not. So an increasing number of businesses turn to the cloud in search of a more cost-effective option.
However, the same survey reveals that 77% find public cloud services too inflexible and lacking enough customisable options to suit their business needs. This leaves many of you stuck between two options and although neither is ideal there is a middle ground that ticks both boxes.
The private cloud solution
“Private cloud solutions offer the best of both worlds,” explains Damovo’s Alex Williams. “Enabling businesses to build a cloud around their specific requirements and integrate it seamlessly with existing IT; while also benefiting from the cost and innovation benefits of public cloud.”
A private cloud solution is a software package created by a specialist company for individual businesses. Instead of a one-fits-all program, these cloud hosted systems are designed to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
There’s no paying for “bloated” applications, full of features you don’t need. While your cloud hosted package is flexible enough to fit in with your existing setup. Which means you only pay for what you need.
Options, not obligations
When you think of the cloud, file sharing probably comes to mind. But cloud hosted software can do a lot more for your business than swapping documents.
With cloud hosted video conferencing you can make video calls to any Windows, Mac, iOS or Android device. Your HD video conference can connect with up to six devices via an email link, meaning no new hardware is needed. And you can connect to users on the go, with iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices supported.
There’s file sharing too of course. In fact, you can do a whole lot more than that with cloud hosted data conferencing. The service allows six devices to connect for collaborative work on projects and presentations. With users able to control data, edit content and share notes – all in real time.
Whether you combine video and data conferencing, or take things even further with SMART devices and added software, you can choose the features you need and leave out the rest.
Cloud hosted packages aren’t just trimming the fat on “bloated” applications and IT costs. They’re changing the business landscape in the process.
Businesses work better connected. As collaboration becomes a business essential, remote workforces are on the rise and companies spread their connections to a global level. With cloud hosted conferencing your meetings are not confined to the board room. You can train staff over multiple branches or offices worldwide. And win that next big contract from a different corner of the globe.
Without the “bloated” features of traditional software, cloud hosted packages are the cost-effective solution. But it’s the flexibility of cloud options that meet the needs of your organisation today, with the range to drive your business as it grows.
