New wireless power technology could free staff tied to electric supplies by a jungle of cables in the office.

Sony, the Japanese electronics giant, recently demonstrated how to cut cabling by running a ‘wireless’ 22 inch LCD TV without a power connection about 50 cms from the nearest wall socket.

Video conferencing services in business are booming, but the “etiquette” is certainly still evolving.

Videoconferencing is as much a social activity as watching a film in a public cinema, so there is acceptable and expected behaviour that accompanies it.

Unlike other well-established social activities where people and technology combine – for example, talking on the telephone or driving a car – videoconferencing is younger with less public exposure.
